Invictus

Sorry, I've been out of it for a while... It's been a couple of stressed out weeks.

So, One of my favorite poems. I didn't write it, I don't take credit. It was once recited on One Tree Hill, and is now here for your enjoyment.

Invictus
Out of the darkness that covers me,
Black as pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods that be
for my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced or ceied aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance,
My head is bloody but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears,
Looms but the horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years,
Finds, and shall find me unafraid.
It matters not how straight the gate,
How charged with punishment the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.
- William Ernest Henley

It is such an empowering poem and I hope that you get the same feel from it. It is means to show that nothing can hurt you mentally. Have a great awe-inspiring day! Also, Happy Halloween!

Two in one

These need a little set up. They were written for my English class. We were given the assignement to write a poem based on what we saw during the movie of the Dead Poet's Society and I had written two. If you have never seen DPS then rent it, It has Robin Williams, The Dad from That '70's Show, and Robert Sean Leonard, who now plays Wilson on House.

Anyways, the first is the actual poem I wrote for the 20 points credit and the second was my extra credit poem and I believe it is the best of the two.

The Lonely Goodbye

Mr. Keating's lonely goodbye
echoed quite softly,
as he sat at Neil's desk
contemplating poems that were
and still are read in darkness.
How could life become such a mess?

He silently cried,
All he meant,
was to teach the kids,
Carpe Diem, Seize the Day,
Fall in love with life,
From his own past he hid.

He stood and thought,
'Sometimes words have no meaning,
Sometimes truth sounds like lies,
Sometimes life is believing
we are not meant to die.'*

Mr. Keating's lonely goodbye
echoed quite softly.

*these qoute I had come up with on my own and is not taken from the movie.

Close My Eyes

What do I see when I close my eyes?
I see alot of things... like...
Stars blinking their bright eyes,
like each little flutter-by firefly.
I see music notes floating by,
playing their melody into the sky.
I see a child laying in the grass,
laughing at all the funny clouds that pass.
As the moon glows bright,
I see Alice climb into the looking glass.
I see my brother taking care of me,
fixing my wings so he can set me free.
I hear the excited buzz of a bee,
as he tap dances on my knee.
You probably think these sites are quite silly.
But behind my eyelids any picture can become real,
Because my imagination takes over.
So this I ask you,
What do you see,
everytime you close your eyes,
and drift off to sleep?

Fear

Me, My love,
knows no fear of anything
With some exceptions
Rejection,
Guilt,
Broken Heart,
Living without you,
Being apart from you,
Being near you,
Arguments,
And so on,
And so on.
But being in love with you,
Helps me fight those fears,
For you are there,
And will let me down gently,
So I can move on
To someone else.

By the way, Most of the poems I have put on here so far are from highschool, and I am still working on some new stuff. But I have been apart from my muse for about 4 months and soon he will be back around and I will try to get some of the newer stuff up.

Ducktape and Superglue

He shattered my heart
into tiny little pieces
leaving,
stepping on them
as he walked away.
Shamelessly,
I picked up the shards
cutting my hands
ducktaping it back together
with a piece missing.
Crying,
helplessly searching
for that missing piece.
You,
walked up to me,
showing the lost piece.
You took my heart from me
removing the duck tape
and slowly,
meticulously,
carefully,
glued each tiny, little shard together
causing me to love you.
Now you walk away,
carefully placing it
back in my hands
knowing,
how fragile it is
but with my heart
you placed,
the superglue, just in case.

I AM

I am confident in beauty and outgoing just a tad.
I wonder if I'll ever find my night in shining armor,
I hear the applaud of a job well done.
I see the star winking and the moon smiling at me,
I want to be wild and free.
I am confident in beauty and outgoing just a tad.

I pretend I am a pirate pillaging and plundering into the night.
I feel the urge of an adventure waiting for me to fight.
I yearn to be loved more deeply,
I worry for my friends across the sea.
I cry in happy times and in sad.
I am confident in beauty and outgoing just a tad.

I understand I will never be perfect,
I say I will perfect my ways.
I dream of achieving an Oscar for a wonderful performance of a wonderful tale.
I try to be a Christian but sometimes I fail.
I hope my future won't be all bad,
I am confident in beauty and outgoing just a tad.
